The 41st Annual IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Microarchitecture, 2008

MICRO 41: PROCEEDING AND PUBLICATION PREPARATION

Thank you for your co-operation in the preparation of the MICRO 41 proceedings. MICRO 41 is an ACM/IEEE co-sponsored conference (by IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, ACM SIGMICRO and Politecnico di MIlano). The conference proceedings will be published in the IEEE series and will also become available through IEEE Xplore. Therefore, all submissions MUST be PDF files that adhere to the IEEE Xplore PDF specification for compatibility.

The LaTex template can be downloaded here. A Word template can be downloaded here. Here you can download an example in pdf format. The complete format, style files (and templates for LaTeX and Word) can be found at:

http://www.ieee.org/web/publications/pubservices/confpub/AuthorTools/conferenceTemplates.html

For LaTex users: use document class "conference", see the template bare_conf.tex. To set the proper style for your paper, the LaTex file has to start with:

documentclass[conference,compsoc]{IEEEtran}
...
\begin{document}

\addtolength{\hoffset}{-0.95cm}
\addtolength{\textwidth}{1.9cm}

...

In the following you will find the guidelines to prepare a camera ready version of your paper which respects all the standard for inclusion of your paper in the proceedings of MICRO 41 (http://www.microarch.org/micro41/ ).

NOTES TO ALL AUTHORS: Submissions that do not conform to the following specifications, guidelines, and formats will be returned to the authors.

THE CAMERA READY DEADLINE IS 4th SEPTEMBER 2008. THIS IS A HARD DEADLINE! NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GRANTED.

1) The manuscript should be in "two columns IEEE proceedings" format, ten-point font, single spacing. Do not modify the margins of the paper to gain space. If the margins are modified, the paper will be returned to the author.
10 pages are included with the registration fee. Up to 2 extra pages are allowed at an additional charge (to be) specified on the registration form. The price for the additional pages, to be included in the registration fee is:

2) Mandatory Sections:

     a. Title of Your Submission Should be Initial Caps -- Meaning First Letter of the Main Words Should be Made Capital Letters.
     b. Authors Complete Names -- For each and all authors their first name, middle initial (if any), and last name need to be included after the title of the paper on the first page
     c. Affiliation -- EACH authors' affiliation, department (if any) affiliation location, State, Country, and email address MUST be included.
     d. Abstract -- Please include an abstract (short overview) of your paper on the first page top of the left hand column.

3) Page Size and Page Breaks: Submissions that do not conform to the IEEE standards will be returned to the author. The page size is US Letter (8-1/2x11 inches). Do not submit your paper in A4 size or different sizes. Only US Letter will be accepted. Be sure that there are no bad page or column breaks -- Meaning no widows (last line of a paragraph at the top of a column). If this happens either tighten the previous column or force a line over. Section and Sub-section heads should remain with at least 2 lines of body text when near the end of a page or column.

4) Figures or Images. Figures and images are printing in black and white (grayscale) in the body pages of print version proceedings. We suggest you print your paper to a black/white printer (or black-white version) to be sure that the tones, screening, images reproduce well in black and white. Figures and Images will appear in color in the IEEE Explore. We recommend images to be at least 300 or 600 dpi for quality reproduction.

5) Fonts. If your figure uses custom or any non-standard font, the characters may appear differently when printed in the proceedings. Remember to check your figure creation that all fonts are embedded or included in the figure correctly.

6) Page Numbers, Headers and Footers. The final submission SHOULD NOT contain any footer or copyright string information in the footer area, headers or page numbers (the correct IEEE copyright notice will be included by the Proceedings Chairs). The papers will be paginated in a determined order by the chairs.

7) Footnotes. Footnotes should be numbered in consecutive order throughout the text.

8) Acknowledgment. The placement of the Acknowledgement appears after the final text of the paper, just before the References section, and after any Appendix(es). Write the Acknowledgment section to be read in the third person.

9) References. Each bibliography entry should include the names of all the authors of the referenced paper. The author list should not be shorten with the use of the abbreviation “et al.”.

10) IEEE Express: After your final PDF file has been approved for IEEE Xplore compatibility using IEEE PDF eXpress, submit the camera-ready version of your paper together with the compatibility report generated by IEEE PDF eXpress in the MICRO 41 submission site as described later at point 12. Papers submitted without the compatibility report will be sent back to the authors.

11) Copyright form: Along with the final version of the paper, each author has to submit a signed version of the copyright form. Print the IEEE_Copyright_Form_MICRO41.pdf and after reading and signing it, send it by fax to +31 15 27 84898. In the field of the title, before writing the title of your contribution, you MUST indicate a number between 1 and 3, with the following meaning: (1) all authors are employed by the US government, (2) all authors are employed by a Crown government (UK, Canada, Australia) and (3) authors not belonging to 1 and 2 (for example: (3) A Beautiful Paper Submitted to MICRO).

12) Camera-Ready Submission: When your paper has been finalized, please:

  1. Upload the camera-ready version of your contribution in PDF format in the submission website: https://z.cs.utexas.edu/users/micro08/hotcrp/
  2. Send a zip or rar file containing camera-ready, the compatibility report and the signed copyright form in PDF format to BOTH proceedings chairs at: [email protected] and [email protected] with the conference name and the number of your contribution (MICRO 41 - # - Camera Ready) in the subject line.  The copyright form can also be submitted by fax as described before at point 11.

Questions:
If you still have questions or problems please send an email to BOTH proceedings chairs at: [email protected] and [email protected] with the conference name (MICRO 41) in the subject line.

Thank you again for participating in this conference and we look forward to receiving your materials on a timely basis.
